What is Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA)?

A concept to determine the location of a transmitter based on the difference in arrival time of a signal at multiple receivers. As signals travel at known speeds, the difference in arrival time of the signal at each receiver can be used to calculate the time it took to travel from the transmitter to each receiver.
